Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG present successful figures
After the end of the winter season, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG inform about the first figures for the 2021/22 business year, which are extremely positive according to the first forecasts. Particularly pleasing is the record that was achieved together with Arosa Bergbahnen AG in the winter season 2021/22: The Arosa Lenzerheide ski area recorded 1.4 million guests - more than ever before since the ski area connection. LBB AG's financial year, which runs from May to April each year, is expected to close with a turnover of over CHF 35 million. The financial year again demanded great flexibility from the entire team due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic with many planning uncertainties.
Summer season 2021 slightly below previous year
The strong summer in Lenzerheide is particularly striking. Although the guest numbers for the 2021 summer season are slightly below the "exceptional summer of 2020", they are still well above the 5-year average, and this despite the mixed weather conditions. Due to the snow conditions, the summer season could not start on Ascension Day or Whitsun weekend as in previous years, but only in mid-June.
Best winter season 2021/22 since the ski area connection
In the 2021/22 winter season, LBB AG, together with Arosa Bergbahnen AG as the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area, set a record: the ski area attracted over 1.4 million guests - more guests than at any time since the opening of the ski area connection in the 2013/14 winter season. The high proportion of Swiss guests in the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area, the consistently good piste conditions and the many sunny days and few stormy days were part of the success concept.
Outlook for the 2022/23 business year
According to planning, the 2022 summer season will start on Ascension Thursday, 26 May 2022, immediately after completion of the overhaul and conversion work on the Rothorn 1 gondola lift. The transport capacity will be increased to 2,200 people per hour (+20%) with seven additional vehicles. In addition, the redesign of the platform will enable an optimal flow of guests at the entrance. During the summer, the control system of the Cumascheals chairlift will be upgraded to the latest state of the art. The signage at the stations will be completely redesigned and the guest information systems at the entry points will be improved. In addition, two new snow groomers will be purchased.
Bike Kingdom Park in focus
The Bike Kingdom Park in Lenzerheide will celebrate its tenth anniversary in summer 2022. Further investments are being made to mark this occasion. A new jump line is being built above the Rothorn valley station and the opening hours of the Bike park are being extended: the park will be open daily until 9.00 pm in the main season from 15 July to 14 August 2022. During this time, smaller events such as concerts, parties, jump shows or workshops will take place on Saturdays.
